“This tape is a collection of songs I wrote and recorded on various Tascam 4-track tape machines in my home in Nashville, TN. I treated these tapes like a journal, keeping nearly every take, unconcerned with perfection and instead striving for something instinctual. This sort of approach to the tape machine is my favorite way to write songs. Nashville singer-songwriter Nick Harley has all the makings of a rising star in our book. Known for performing with fellow country rockers S.G. Goodman and Lilly Hiatt, Harley is truly a multi-talented musician in his own right, penning bittersweet jams that effortlessly fuse indie rock with classic folk and country themes. Between the cosmic dusty rocker “Bucket of Love” and the soul-crushing melancholia of “I Used To Know a Girl,” Leave No Trace reminds us of David Berman and MJ Lenderman jamming with prime 1970s Dylan and Young (perhaps backed by LCW-era Modest Mouse for good measure?).

Leave No Trace is available on cassette and digital formats via Primordial Void. It serves as the follow-up to last year’s excellent Easy Moon LP.
