Sophomore EP from Queens producer and visual artist Will Simpson (aka Crime Friend). Across four heady dancefloor cuts, Simpson’s unique interpretation of ‘90s jungle and breakbeat hardcore is on full display, beginning with the dub-inspired floater “Orange Cranky.” Dark synths, crisp breaks, and ghostly vocal samples create an atmosphere reminiscent of Burial or even those classic 4 Hero/Tom & Jerry records. “Tableau,” Vol. 2’s true standout in our book, is one of the most stunning club tracks we’ve heard in a minute, serving as the calm before “Headbanger”’s oldskool storm.

Vol. 2 is available on cassette along with its predecessor, which was originally released digitally last year.
