Primordial Void is proud to present 'The World is Drenched in Velveteen Clouds', the full-length debut from 16-year-old Asheville, NC artist Noah (aka Fishbowl Prairie). Across seven tracks, the musical wunderkind weaves stoned-out folk storytelling alongside buzzing electronics and psychedelic guitar collages. The shimmering keys and gentle acoustic strums of “You Are a Holiday” set the tone for the rest of the album, which lands somewhere between the humble DIY experimentalism of Elephant 6 and the neo-psychedelia-meets-noise of early Animal Collective. “Suite for November,” featuring Bloria's Voice, will remind the listener of an obscure daydream, locked in a hypnagogic state that feels eerily nostalgic. Meanwhile, the nine-minute ambient piece “Colorful Threshold” perfectly encapsulates 'Velveteen Clouds'’ distinctive fusion of electronic and acoustic sounds.

Noah’s vocals are often whispered, while his guitar and synth playing remains simple, yet entirely captivating, adding an innocent quality to many of the album’s songs. The arrangements are remarkably sophisticated for a 16-year-old, but then again, 'Velveteen Clouds' would be a stunning work no matter the age of its creator. It’s contemporary folk produced by an artist who is clearly inspired by ambient and musique concrète works; certainly one of the most impressive releases we’ve heard in a while.
